Breaking through the 160s!

Well, friends! I've made some great progress! On Sunday I weighed myself and I weighed 159.5! That was a very exciting weigh in! I haven't been exercising like before. I went out of town for a few weeks so didn't exercise the whole time and I've been home a week and haven't exercised yet. I've learned (this is my 3rd time on this weight-loss journey... hence the three children!) that I see the most results when I watch what I eat to help me shed weight first. Then I add the toning and exercising and I get very satisfying results. I have been measuring my foods and cataloging everything I eat so I can see how many calories I'm consuming. It works for me. I will weigh in each Sunday and hopefully will post then. There is a lot more enthusiasm to post when my results are satisfying!

Here are some of the things in my diet that are low calorie and satisfying.
1. Post Wheat 'n Bran shredded wheat cereal (I add 1/4 of blue berries or a whole banana).
2. skim milk
3. vanilla yogurt & low fat cottage cheese
4. sandwiches made on pumpernickel bread
5. turkey hot dogs w/whole wheat buns and mustard
6. frozen yogurt or no sugar added ice cream
7. whole wheat waffles with no sugar added syrup
8. fuji apples

One of my strategies is to eat the same thing over and over so there's less temptation. Sunday is my bonus day. We eat dinner with family so that's when I get to eat new things. For example, I have less self control if I'm eating a delicious meal while sitting at the table and all the food is at my reach. I like to leave the food in the kitchen, put my servings on a smaller dinner plate and sit at the table. I never get up to get more food, but if it's just sitting there looking at me and I really enjoyed it I know I'll go for more!

I hope these things help! Don't be afraid to post a comment. I love them!

Congrats on breaking the 60s!! I know just how you feel. After having our baby, I had about 25 pounds I wanted to lose and I loved reaching those 5 and 10lb milestones. Watching what I ate seemed to be the most important thing that helped me. The exercise was good too--it made me feel better about myself and I could see my body changing as well.

It's been almost 6 months since our baby was born and I've lost almost 20 lbs. Most of my old clothes fit again and I just feel better about myself. I still have about 5 lbs I'd like to lose and so I'm still trying to get rid of those. For me it has been more slow going after the first 15 lbs though.

My goal was to reach my pre-baby weight before having our next child. I've almost reached that goal and I'm excited to think about the possibility of hopefully having another baby next year sometime.

I'm excited to check your blog again soon! It's so fun to be in contact with you again!

I saw the link to this in your side bar the other day and am totally and completely impressed with your determination to get healthy! It sounds like you've found a program that really works well for you (half the battle) and that you're tackling it head on (the other half). I know you'll be where you want to be soon...but in the mean time...you look fantastic in the pictures and you could probably kick my bootie in an arm wrestling contest. Good job, lady! Keep at 'it!
