the IKE 15

So, when hurricane Ike came it ruined life as I know it. It took away my power for one whole week which meant no workout videos, no AC, no washing laundry or dishes, no automatic garage door opener and no kitchen disposal. I didn't workout the entire time! And, we sat around and talked a lot with my extended family. My mother-in-law is a master of fudge, of which I ate most the batch, and their house is always filled with the unmentionables: cheetoes, doritos, candy bars, etc. Now I know myself enough not to buy them. Since we spent most of our time over there I ate plenty! Now I haven't to loose what I call the Ike 15! I didn't really gain 15, but 5 pounds is probably realistic.

On the slip side it was a fabulous power-less week. Since no one could get on the computer or phone or watch tv people came out of their normal lives and socialized. We saw neighbors outside chatting and having block parties, families having picnics and playing games, and when it got dark we climbed into bed and read by the light of a flashlight.

My little family all slept in our small front room. We were blessed with a cold front and the breeze came in through the windows. Everynight at dust we got into bed and read to our children from the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ (mormon.org) and then we read Harry Potter until they fell asleep. It was awesome!! It brought families and communities closer together.

To burn off those horrible pounds I've taken Turbo Jam's 10 day challenge. If you follow the assigned workouts and menu she says I can loose 10 inches in 10 days. Today is day three and I'm lovin' it! The menu makes sure you get the protein you need and teaches your body to "eat clean." I've always known that what you put into your body is what it will crave. I crave chocolate - all the time!! It's a big deal for me to not eat chocolate for 10 days. Yesterday we ate lunch at my in-laws and there were homemade brownies and icing!!! I had taken my own lunch and was all prepared to eat only it, UNTIL I SAW THE PAN OF BROWNIES! My resolve was seriously shaken, but I am very proud of myself because I chose not to eat any. Pin a gold star upon my chest!

I love turbo jam! I'm bankin' on those 10 inches to really give me a boost! I'll keep you updated!
much love and happiness!
